The motorway evokes global rapid connections of transition between two points. They are passages and not permanencies. The project tries an integration creating an abrupt cut in the existing landscape. The main goal consisted in the construction of a new road tunnel attached to the existing tunnel and respective increase of the lanes. The project included the treatment of the embouchures, of the slopes and the retaining walls enhance the naturalness of the existing walls that are so characteristic of this area of the country. _ A autoestrada evoca ligações globais, rápidas e de transição entre dois pontos. É uma passagem e não uma permanência. O projeto tenta uma integração criando um corte abrupto na paisagem existente. O objetivo principal consistia na construção de um novo túnel rodoviário, anexo ao existente e respetivo aumento das faixas de rodagem. O projeto contemplou o tratamento dos emboquilhamentos, dos taludes e dos muros de contenção realçando a naturalidade dos muros característicos desta zona do País.
